We all know the success of the theater and our shows rely on how many butts we can get in the seats at our stages. I have an idea that I want to run by everyone:
Professional theaters around the Los Angeles Area always have a 1-3 month calendar that they have printed on a post card. I've seen stacks of them in bookstores, acting schools, coffee shops...
Our calendar isn't always set in stone until the last minute but, if we can list a good majority of the shows on a post card and or flyer, I think we can draw more attention to the shows at our theaters. This should never replace the efforts of indivitual shows from promoting themselves, but this is the theater company promoting itself by displaying what shows are on our stages every month.
What I want to see happen and can people help:
1) Whatever shows are set in stone a week or two (whatever the press deadline is) get printed on that months postcard/flyer. 2) Does anyone think they can get us a discount at a print shop or find us a deal? 3) Ideas for affording this monthly promo expense (it will be a tax write off for the company) and what should the budget be?--The recycle bin monies can possibly help. Maybe also take up a donation jar at improv night??? 4)Someone come up with a design? It needs to be simple and clean. Stay away from pictures of cast members because of egos and clutter. Brad, I like the Monty Pythong postcard.
I would like to get this going for the September shows if Chris thinks this is a good idea.

While Kiehl knows of an extremely cheap bulk printer (I remember Chelsea telling me about the crazy deal they got), you may also want to check Prints Charm'n for good rates. I've used them for my St. Elmo's fliers and I believe Brad posted some positive comments about them as well. They have two locations, one in North Hollywood.
